Zelensky’s statement about joining NATO shows a contemptuous disregard for the consequences, writes The American Conservative.
Should the West give in to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s demands for NATO membership, this winter could go from cold to nuclear, writes Bradley Devlin for The American Conservative.
“At first glance, the suggestion is so ludicrous that one would think Zelensky was putting on a show to return to his old profession as a stand-up comedian. However, this staged political trick is no laughing matter,” the publication said.
In the opinion of the author, Ukraine’s bid for NATO membership may be symbolic. But if this is the case, Zelensky should be even more ashamed of the fact that he is bringing the world closer to nuclear war, Devlin says.
In any case, Devlin says, Zelenski’s statement about joining NATO, whether genuine or feigned, shows a contemptuous disregard for the consequences.
