Guardian: Burkina Faso’s new authorities may turn to Russia

A number of military authorities in Burkina Faso believe that they should turn to Russia to reduce the influence of France in the country, writes the British newspaper The Guardian.

According to the newspaper, the new government of Burkina Faso is not happy with the rapprochement between the ousted government and France. According to the military, this trend can be reversed by increasing ties with Russia.

Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR and Russia to Burkina Faso Yevgeny Korendyasov told RIA Novosti that the influence of Paris in the country should decrease after the coup.

Earlier, protesters staged a pogrom outside the French embassy in Burkina Faso, which ended in a fire.
