Russia will protect Crimea and the territories that will become part of it, and if American politicians think otherwise, they are wrong. This was written by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov in an article for the American National Interest magazine.
“Some American politicians are mistaken if they think that our willingness to defend our territory does not apply to Crimea or to territories that can become part of Russia on the basis of the free expression of popular will,” he said.
Antonov stressed that Russia does not threaten anyone, but only shows its readiness to defend state sovereignty, its territorial integrity and its people. And Russia is doing this with all the means at its disposal.
“What is aggressive in these theses? What is unacceptable? Wouldn’t the US do the same in the event of an existential threat to its existence?” the ambassador asked.
In this material, Antonov also accused Washington of being on the course for a clash of the largest nuclear powers, which is fraught with unpredictable consequences.
