Media: about 300,000 tons of methane got into the atmosphere due to blown-up Nord Stream pipes

Bloomberg writes that about 300,000 tons of methane got into the atmosphere from the blown up Nord Stream pipes. This amount will have the same impact on the climate over the next 10-20 years as the annual emissions of 5 million cars.

Methane is an effective greenhouse gas. An increase in its content in the atmosphere contributes to an increase in the greenhouse effect, since methane intensively absorbs the Earth’s thermal radiation in the infrared region of the spectrum at a wavelength of 7.66 microns. Methane is 23 times more efficient at retaining heat in the Earth’s atmosphere than CO2.

It follows that next year will be even hotter, and the world will have reduced crops and more natural disasters.

Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Nord Stream incident took place in an area controlled by American intelligence.
