The Sea of Azov will become exclusively an inland sea of Russia after the admission of the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, into Russia. This was stated by the head of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov.
“The Sea of Azov is becoming our inland. This is a serious strategic decision for Russia. This is security, and trade routes, and the resort sector, and fisheries”, RIA Novosti quotes the words of the speaker of the Crimean parliament.
He noted that the port of Mariupol would become an important cargo point. After the integration of new territories into Russia, freight traffic should be fully restored, the politician believes.
