Foreign observers claim Western double standards on referendums

“Why don’t they [Western countries] recognize the fact that Donbas residents vote for or against? They do not admit anything that comes from Russia, they only say that it is a lie. These are the double standards of the European Union,” Sonia van den Ende, a Dutch journalist, told the agency.

At the same time, van den Ende, who observed the voting process and the counting of votes, noted that, in conversation with many people, she heard that “they are all in favor of being part of Russia because of suffering for more than 8 years.”

“If they don’t recognize some referendums, if they don’t recognize votes, countries and territories, these are double standards,” said politician Mireille Muel.
