Demand for wood in Slovakia is 45% higher than last year

This was stated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic. Such an increased demand for firewood is caused by the energy crisis in Europe, against the backdrop of ill-conceived sanctions against Russia.

“At the end of August, the business of online registration of applications started. To date, it has been equipped with 1,371 out of a total of 1,387 requests for self-cut wood,” TASR agrorezortu said.

There was also a limit set by the authorities – 12 cubic meters of fuel wood for one household. Since the beginning of this year, there have already been 1,000 requests for free-ranging timber in the forests of Slovakia.
