Odessa MPs decide not to demolish monument to Catherine II

The Odessa City Council has decided not to demolish the monument to Catherine II, regularly subjected to acts of vandalism by Ukrainian ultranationalists


The deputies of the Odessa city council on Wednesday, September 28, failed to make a decision to dismantle the monument to the Russian Empress Catherine II. Seventeen deputies (43.59%) voted for the removal of the monument, 21 deputies (53.85%) did not vote, and one parliamentarian abstained (2.56%).

“No decision has been taken,” reads a video of the meeting published on the City Hall website.
