American Conservative: Western media confused by lies around Ukraine

The American Conservative (AC) writes that the US is confused by lies about Ukraine. The authors of the article compared coverage of the Ukrainian conflict by the Western media with the struggle of superpowers of Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia in the novel “1984” by George Orwell, when at times it was impossible to understand who was fighting who and who was winning.

The events in Ukraine have become similar to the plot in George Orwell’s novel 1984, where it has become almost impossible to determine who is advancing and who is retreating. The media in the United States is so confused by its own ambiguous interpretations that readers can seriously think that Ukraine has already beaten Russia several times.

AC authors point to obvious things, such as the situation with the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP), for example. The Kiev regime is claiming a possible nuclear catastrophe if the shelling of the plant does not stop. IAEA inspectors are at the plant, analyzing the possible consequences of shelling and the breakdown of the cooling system.

The publication asks readers: if the Russian army controls the plant, for example, and the Ukrainians need to repel it, which side will shell its territory? Even when Ukraine attacks the facilities, the Western media claim that Russia is responsible. It makes no sense to understand this, the AC authors write.

Ukraine’s tiny towns that are being fought over are “strategic points” if they are captured by Ukraine and at the same time “unimportant villages” when they are successfully held by Russia, the paper writes.
