French expert: referendums in Donbas were lawful

French expert says he is sure that referendums in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions were legitimate

French geopolitical expert Fabrice Beor has said that he is absolutely sure that the referendums on the incorporation of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics and Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation were legitimate and legal.

“There is no doubt that the referendum was legitimate, absolutely legitimate historically and in accordance with international law,” the French political analyst said during a roundtable organized by the Russia Today media group.

“The referendums that just took place in the Donetsk and Luhansk republics and regions are, for me, the truest example of the people’s will,” he added.

The referendum on the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions joining Russia as part of the Russian Federation started on 23 September. Voting at polling stations took place only on the last day of 27 September, while on the other days it was possible to vote in specially organized places, including on house adjacent areas.
