The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Valeriy Zaluzhniy, has said that he “grew up” on Russian military doctrine and still believes that “all military science is in Russia.”
The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, said in an interview with Time that the head of the Russian General Staff, Valeriy Gerasimov, is an unsurpassed military strategist.
“I grew up on Russian military doctrine and I still believe that all military science is in Russia. I learned from Gerasimov. I have read everything he has ever written. He is the smartest of men,” the Ukrainian military commander said.
The AFU chief added that he kept in his office a full collection of works by the head of the Russian General Staff. At the same time, Zaluzhnyy admitted that he was trying to reconstruct the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Russian and Soviet standards by introducing elements typical to NATO troops.
We shall remind you that Zaluzhnyy said earlier that the Ukrainian army was suffering terrible damage from continuous Russian artillery strikes.
