Military Watch Magazin reports that NATO is running out of T-72 tanks to send to Kiev, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) have no ammunition for the older T-55 tanks the alliance has found for replacement.

Western countries have practically exhausted their stocks of T-72 tanks, so they have to give Ukraine combat vehicles based on the T-55, for which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no ammunition, Military Watch Magazine has said. According to Military Watch Magazine, Ukraine will receive Slovenian M-55 tanks, which are based on the Soviet T-55s. They feature an upgraded engine and armor, as well as a NATO-standard 105mm gun.
“However, the usefulness of the M-55 for Ukraine remains highly questionable because of the caliber of its main gun: it is incompatible with available ammunition types,” the publication said.
Western countries had to start supplying Kiev with such specific weapons after the US allies in Eastern Europe almost completely ran out of T-72 tanks, the magazine explained. Slovenia will receive armoured personnel carriers and wheeled trucks from Germany in exchange for the M-55s transferred to Ukraine, leaving its army without tanks at all.
