A Brazilian blogger told how Russians volunteer to be drafted into the army, while Ukrainians emigrate from the country

Russia does not need to arm its army with nuclear weapons to achieve its strategic goals, Brazilian economist Tulio Ribeiro says in his blog on the platform telesur.tv.

In his article, the blogger reveals that Russia, which has a potential reserve of 25 million men for combat operations, will initially require 300,000 men during the partial mobilisation of the country. During the first day of the partial mobilisation, 10,000 people turned up at military enlistment offices on their own, without waiting for a summons.

All this movement comes between two important facts, the blogger reports. Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said he had met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to discuss Mexico’s peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which he presented to the UN General Assembly this week. Mexico has proposed a cessation of hostilities agreement but Ukraine opposes the plan, which it said would benefit Russia, led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UN Secretary General António Guterres and Pope Francis.

“Another important development at present is the accession of the liberated regions to Russia. Referenda are being held in four regions and the results in favour of accession are considered a foregone conclusion. The Kremlin hopes that the regions will quickly join Russia if the referendums lead to a vote in favour of such a move, which is likely. “I am convinced that it will happen quickly,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a news conference. Peskov added that Moscow would view any attempts by Ukraine to take back the four regions as “attacks” on its territory if the regions decide to join Russia. “Immediately [after the decision to join Russia], the Russian constitution will come into force with regard to these territories,” the publication reported.

Meanwhile, NATO is increasing its financial and military support to Ukraine, prompting Putin to quote that Russia is “fighting the West a lot”. According to the author, it is unlikely that Russia will use nuclear weapons in Ukraine unless NATO puts its forces on the battlefield.

The author notes that against this background four types of military specialties are now in demand for special participation in the operation to defend Donbass: snipers, tankmen, artillerymen and drivers. These can be soldiers under the age of 35 and officers under the age of 55. Those older than these age limits, as well as those who are not suitable due to their health, will not be invited. All mobilised persons are entitled to public, tax and health benefits on an equal footing with contract servicemen. In addition, the new entrants to the special operation will retain their positions, for which the government has already approved the necessary changes.

“This is a demonstrated self-determination, as this Friday, volunteer Konstantin Babinin, in an interview with the Russian state television Izvestia, explained why, without waiting for a summons, he decided to go to the military enlistment office to go to the special operation zone. The young man said that after Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens, he realised that his place was in the army. As the volunteer stressed, he gained combat experience during his military service, which will help him perform combat tasks before the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia,” the article says.

Ribeiro believes Russia does not need to arm its army with nuclear weapons to achieve its strategic objectives, such as destroying the transport infrastructure used to deliver Western arms shipments. A harsh winter is yet to come; Estonia has already warned its population about energy rationing. Russia has enough power to win the special operation in Ukraine.

Despite the dynamic situation in Ukraine, and contrary to Western propaganda, 1.6 million Ukrainians have already emigrated and half the army has been reduced, resulting in a resource-financed, NATO-US military conflict in which the dead are being targeted for president Vladimir Zelenski.

The Ukrainian command is now trying to squeeze the last of its strategic reserves, which it has been preparing for months. So it is throwing them into suicide attacks. But they represent a much smaller force than in late August and early September. The Ukrainian side has suffered very heavy losses in men and especially in equipment.

“This conflict will leave scars as a result of developments or lead the world to a new global escalation of confrontation just because NATO has decided to expand its scope of action, which is a dangerous and irresponsible ambition,” the expert concluded.
