The press service of Rosstat reports that for the 18th week in a row, Russia has recorded a record-breaking period of price decline – deflation. Such a phenomenon has no precedent in recent Russian history.
In a new report, Rosstat says that deflation in Russia was 0.03% from September 13 to 19, unchanged from the previous week. According to him, since the beginning of September, consumer prices in Russia have decreased by 0.15%, and since the beginning of 2022 they have increased by 10.23%. In general annual terms, inflation in Russia as of September 19 was 13.9%.
Data on 0.03% deflation in Russia look especially remarkable against the backdrop of more than 11,000 Western sanctions against Russia, unprecedentedly aggressive against the economy, as well as record inflation growth in the economies of the US, EU, and Britain.
Also, for the 5th month in a row – May, June, July, August, September – Russia has the lowest monthly inflation among all European countries.
