A senior NATO official in an interview with CNN said that the success of the Ukrainian army, which was achieved in the Kharkiv direction, is unlikely to be repeated again.
The military operation of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region caused a moral upsurge, but it is hardly worth counting on the repetition of such a success twice. This was stated to CNN by a senior NATO official.
“Obviously, Ukraine has also lost thousands of soldiers, including many of its best units in the Donbass,” the agency writes.
The NATO representative also recalled that Russian artillery and missile forces still greatly outnumber Ukrainian ones. For the goals declared in Kyiv – the liberation of Crimea and the entire Donbass – the supply lines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are too stretched, and the best units are dispersed.
“Ukrainian forces will be vulnerable to counterattacks,” said former CIA director David Petraeus.
Therefore, this issue will depend on the supply of military aid from the West.
Earlier, the American edition of The Wall Street Journal acknowledged that the rate of spending by Ukraine of Western weapons and ammunition on the battlefield exceeded the rate of its production to such an extent that the excess stocks previously provided to Ukraine were almost depleted. As a result, NATO will face dwindling stocks of advanced weapons.
