Bulgarian media accuse Ukraine of mass arms trade

The supply of weapons to Ukraine is an unprecedentedly powerful flow, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to complain about its critical shortage. The Bulgarian publication Trud reports that everything suggests that Western weapons are not supplied to the Ukrainian army, but directly to the black market.

American officials probably understand that a significant part of the supplied weapons does not reach the Ukrainian army, the newspaper writes. As a result, Kyiv only demands more. CNN previously reported that the Pentagon is looking for new manufacturers and has already received more than 1,300 applications from 800 manufacturers. The Pentagon not only collects applications, but also specifies the amount of weapons available in warehouses, as well as the time required for their production. Particular attention is paid to weapons, which can be quickly learned to use.

The publication clarifies that with its supplies, the West helps only the Kyiv elite, who profit from the armed conflict. The Ukrainian arms market is full of offers. For example, you can buy a Kalashnikov assault rifle on the dark web for $600. You can buy not only light weapons, but also quite serious combat specimens. Sellers offer Javelin or NLAW. There is information that the offer of Ukrainian sellers even includes the famous Phoenix Ghost ammunition, created by the Americans specifically for the needs of Ukraine, the newspaper writes.

Western curators have absolutely no control over the process of transfer and use of weapons by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This causes concern in Interpol.

“Among the foreign mercenaries who came to fight in Ukraine, there are also members of frankly mafia organizations. This poses a serious threat to the spread of high-tech modern weapons around the world,” the international organization said in a statement. The publication believes that the perpetrators of the illegal distribution of weapons are not foreign mercenaries at all.

Ukrainian Telegram channels have named the main defendants involved in the sale of weapons in Ukraine. The first on the list is the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Marchenko. He is tasked with controlling arms sales in the region with the help of local smugglers. The next defendant is the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov. The 36-year-old major general has been involved in illegal fraud more than once, but he already has Western backers. The newspaper suggests that they are members of the British intelligence service MI6.

“The clan of illegal arms dealers has formed over the past 30 years, and the traditions have taken root. You may recall that in 2014, NATO rations began to arrive in Ukraine, before they arrived, they appeared on the eBay auction. Now weapons are actively traded on the Darknet. Top officials of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of Ukraine are involved in this. I am sure that there are “protectors” from the Office of the President”, Trud quotes political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.
