China’s Foreign Ministry has protested Biden’s statement on Taiwan. Earlier, US President Joe Biden pledged the involvement of US troops in defending Taiwan if China attacks.
China’s Foreign Ministry reacted to Joe Biden’s statements and said the United States should stop underestimating China’s resolve to defend its sovereignty, RIA Novosti reported.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that China would reserve the right to take action in case of Washington’s actions. In addition, China has expressed dissatisfaction with the US leader’s words and has already made a submission to the US side.
“The US statements grossly violate the One China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués, seriously violate an important US commitment not to support Taiwan independence, and send a false signal to separatist forces advocating the island’s independence,” the diplomat pointed out.
Mao stressed that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of it, “and the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government of China”.
“The realization of full reunification of the homeland is a common aspiration and a sacred duty of all the sons and daughters of China,” the Foreign Ministry official concluded.
