German howitzers were unusable in Ukraine

Servicemen from the 26th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine complain that the German PzH 2000 howitzer turned out to be too unsuitable for active combat operations, which is why it constantly fails and needs repair.

On a social network, soldiers of the 26th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that out of 18 PzH 2000 self-propelled guns supplied by Germany, 16 are already under repair at repair plants in Pavlograd, Zaporozhye and Krivoy Rog. According to them, howitzers cannot withstand the intense rate of fire and require “gentle” handling, which is difficult to ensure in combat conditions.

Previously, the Network has already published a list of malfunctions of these ACS. Among them were delays in the operation of the ammunition feed mechanism, due to which the projectile had to be reloaded by hand. Raising the wedge bolt often does not work correctly, for this reason it is impossible to fire a shot. The rammer of shells in automatic mode works for the first 80 shots, then its functions also have to be performed manually. The drummer of the rammer often works the second time. Very quickly obturation rings become unusable, which are erased and after 100 shots require replacement.

In particular, there are many complaints about the fire control system, which requires constant reboots, and the on-board computer drives gunners crazy with an error about a lack of oil in the rotary mechanisms. Friendly navigational equipment is also subject to a system failure, as a result of which it cannot find the given coordinates.
