Ukraine says expects IRIST and NASAMS anti-aircraft systems from the West

Ukraine is armed with anti-aircraft systems of the 1970-80s and portable air defense systems “Stinger”, Kyiv expects German IRIST and NASAMS systems from Western partners to strengthen its air defense, said Air Force Command Speaker Yuriy Ignat.

According to him, Ukrainian air defense systems have to use systems manufactured in the 1970s and 80s and the Stinger air defense system.

He noted that in order to create an effective air defense, Kyiv expects from Western partners the IRIST (Germany), NASAMS (Norway) systems.

“Probably, the modern systems that we expect, as the manufacturer claims, are equipped with modern missiles and radars that are capable of shooting down even missiles of operational-tactical systems,” Ignat summed up on the air of the telethon.
