According to the Guardian newspaper, citing the draft document, the European Commission has decided to abandon the introduction of a ceiling on gas prices from Russia.
This is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The EU executive body refuses to impose a price cap on Russian gas, but promotes the idea of imposing additional taxes on excess profits of energy companies,” the newspaper notes.
The reason for the abandonment of plans to introduce a ceiling on the “blue fuel” purchased from Moscow is the unwillingness of many countries of the association to take such a measure.
