When a retired German police officer received a new gas bill, he decided to cut down his garden for firewood.
Bild agency writes about it.
“For several weeks, he thought he had already made good energy saving plans for the fall. But when 70-year-old Dietmar from Zwickau received a bill from gas supplier MITGAS, he had to sit on the stairs in front of his house. His monthly prepayment has been increased from 165 euros to 2268 euros since November – almost 14 times!”
According to the pensioner, he did not know what he needed – beer or medicine for the heart. He thought it was a joke.
The ex-cop has no way to pay such bills.
“I have been working for over 40 years and now I have nothing left? We always had 22 degrees in the house. I am ready to save money and not turn on the heating anymore, but they have to let us live,” Dietmar says.
Now he wants to terminate his contract with the gasmen and start a fireplace in the living room. While the trees in the garden still remain. Because even that is not available anywhere else.
