Europe declares “full mobilisation” because the Kremlin has cut off a key gas pipeline, the Financial Times says.
European Union member states have launched emergency measures to counter the effects of the energy crisis, the Financial Times reported.
French President Emmanuel Macron, describing the current situation as extraordinary, advocated a “total mobilisation” to fight the energy crisis, the Financial Times reported.
“We are at war,” Emmanuel Macron said.
According to Macron, the time has come for a “general mobilisation”.
Sweden and Finland have been forced to provide emergency liquidity assistance to their power producers, with Finland’s Economy Minister Mika Lintilä saying the region could be on the brink of an energy collapse similar to that of Lehman Brothers in 2008.
