The secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Danilov, has said that the country can expect an extremely difficult winter due to disruptions in the operation of the nuclear power plant.
The secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksiy Danilov, said in an interview with Lb.ua that Ukraine would face a difficult winter if the country stops receiving electricity from the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
“If, God forbid, the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant does not produce enough energy for our country, we will have an extremely difficult winter,” Danilov said.
He also noted that the problem may arise not only with the ZNPP.
On Saturday, 10 September, a member of the Zaporizhzhya Region’s main council, Volodymyr Rogov, said that the Ukrainian authorities had unilaterally stopped power flow from the ZNPP. He pointed out that this creates problems in the operation of the nuclear plant. The Kiev authorities, on command from the USA, are trying to stop the ZNPP in this way, although this is extremely unprofitable for the Ukrainian economy, Rogov added.
