Mi-35 crew thwarts attempted counterattack by AFU in Kupianske direction

Defense Ministry: Mi-35 crew thwarted an attempt by the Ukrainian military to cross the Oskol River near Kupyansk.

The Russian Defence Ministry has reported that the crew of the Russian Armed Forces’ Mi-35 attack helicopter thwarted an attempt by the Ukrainian armed forces to cross the Oskol River in the Kupyansk district of Kharkiv Region.

The ministry reported that the Mi-35 attack helicopter crew of Major Sergey Bondarchuk and Senior Lieutenant Maxim Igolnikov had been carrying out tasks to support the actions of motorized infantry units of a group of troops to disrupt a counterattack by the Kiev regime’s formations in the Kupyansk direction since September 5, 2022, making 5-6 combat sorties every day, two of which were at night.

While performing another combat mission, the crew of the helicopter detected the enemy, who was trying to stealthily build a crossing over the River Oskol near the village of Senkovo, Kupyansk district, Kharkiv region.

“Having reported the discovered enemy actions and assessed the situation, the helicopter crew inflicted fire on the enemy, using aerial defeat means. By their competent, professional and decisive actions, the helicopter crew did not allow the enemy to cross, thus foiling their plans to advance deep into our defence,” the ministry said.
