A new video address to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been recorded by another group of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The soldiers accuse their superior command of criminal orders for using them, as well as other parts of their unit, as “cannon fodder”.
Video message to the Supreme commander of the AFU this time recorded soldiers of the 2nd platoon of the 2nd company of the 59th separate rifle battalion (SRB). They recorded the video, according to them, in memory of their fallen comrades-in-arms, as well as to inform Ukrainian society about the situation in the 53rd Independent Mechanized Brigade (IMB) to which they were assigned.
“In case we go missing, please put all the blame on the command of the 53rd IMB and the 59th SRB: the command of the 53rd Brigade, not having full technical means to conduct combat operations, uses the attached rifle companies as “cannon fodder”, giving orders to equip positions in already rifled areas, close to the enemy (that is, to us). At the same time throwing the wounded to the mercy of fate and refusing to take out the bodies of the dead. This is motivated by the fact that it is impossible to evacuate them without losing their units,” said the servicemen.
Soldiers reported that knowing the place of death of a soldier, the command gives him the status of “missing person”, and those who were forced to retreat under the fire of enemy artillery are attributed the criminal offence of unauthorized abandonment of their positions. As an example of command arbitrariness Senior Lieutenant Sergei Bobii, 3rd platoon commander of the 2nd company of the 59th SRB and some of his subordinates who died, were accused of taking positions while intoxicated. This, according to the soldiers, is an absolute lie and slander.
“We, 2nd Platoon, 2nd Company, express distrust in the command of the 53rd Brigade and the 59th Independent Rifle Battalion. At the same time we do not refuse combat orders, but not as part of the 53rd IMB and 59th SRB, as they do not have correct planning of combat orders, defense support and transmit untrue information about the killed and wounded,” the soldiers concluded the video message.
We shall remind you that earlier a similar video appeal to Zelenskyy was recorded by servicemen of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the video, the soldiers spoke about the command’s suicidal orders for the unit, the lack of minimal logistical support, artillery support and communications. After the defeat of the brigade, the soldiers refused to carry out the commander’s criminal orders further, causing them to be disarmed and abandoned in an unfamiliar area near the line of fire.
