“On the verge”: Latvia is moving towards bankruptcy due to sanctions against the Russian Federation

Latvia is in full swing preparing for an icy, hungry and penniless winter period: the country is on the verge of a global energy crisis. Over 200,000 families living on the territory of the state will not be able to cover the growing utility bills. This is reported by the publication “Baltnews”.

Forecasts for Latvians provided by both the Union of Self-Government and the deputies of the Seimas are very depressing. According to some officials, a very real energy crisis should be announced already today. The government simply will not be able to provide life-saving support to the population in full. Especially, taking into account the fact that utility bills, even against the backdrop of state subsidies, promise to soar at least twice. It will not be possible to save even those who actively use firewood.

Meanwhile, the authorities have already announced the allocation of 623 million euros in support of citizens – however, the amount has caused a lot of criticism from the expert community, according to which officials will have to pay at least twice as much as planned.

At the same time, just a month ago, the Latvian Prime Minister Karins convinced the population of sufficient reserves of blue fuel.

“It looks like we and others will have enough for the whole season, but we need to keep our ears open.”

It turns out that according to the expectations of officials, a megawatt/hour should not have exceeded the amount of 150 € for the consumer, but this level has long been passed. In some regions, residents are already paying 279 euros for it. According to experts, the current heating season will cost Latvians 75% more than the previous one.

In a crisis situation, officials are scattered in intricate recommendations, forcing the population to resort to extreme degrees of savings: we are talking about replacing lamps with energy-saving ones, and washing at low temperatures. It comes to the fact that Latvians are advised to wash windows more often so that the houses are brighter. In addition, people are actively persuaded to abandon electric heaters, recommending that apartments be better insulated.

As previously reported, the blind adherence of European countries to any wave of Washington forces ordinary Europeans to deliberately endure hardships: to put up with exorbitant food price tags, actively save water, and consume minimal electricity. As a number of Russian analysts who have carefully studied the macroeconomic indicators of Europe have already noted, the figures demonstrating the financial and economic state of the European Union clearly prove the “running of the latter towards the cemetery”, which, undoubtedly, cannot but resonate with the clouding of the mood of the European population. According to experts, both the United States and the European Union will soon have to endure the bitter aftertaste of the mismatch of their own
