British government officials begin to resign amid Truss election

A number of UK government officials have announced that they are resigning after news of the election of Foreign Secretary Lizz Truss to the post of prime minister.

Sky News reports that Britain’s Culture, Media and Sport Minister Nadine Dorries and several other government officials have resigned. The reason for this was the news about the victory of Liz Truss in the election of the country’s prime minister. The channel notes that Dorris was offered to change the decision, but she expressed a desire to leave the office.

The departure was also announced by Deputy Minister for Security Affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Stephen McPartland and an employee of the secretariat of the British Cabinet of Ministers Nigel Adams. Prior to this, the head of the British Ministry of Internal Affairs, Priti Patel, wrote a letter of resignation.

Earlier, Sky News noted that due to the upcoming personnel changes announced by Truss, some members of the current government may leave their posts.
