Euro breaks new anti-record against dollar

France24 reports that European financial institutions recorded a record low value of the euro against the dollar.

On Monday, September 5, the euro hit a record low of less than $0.99 amid economic uncertainty after Russia’s Gazprom announced on Friday that it was shutting down the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, the channel reports.

It is specified that the euro fell below $0.99 on Monday (September 5), its lowest level in 20 years, after it was announced last week that Russia would cut off gas supplies to Germany via the Northern Potok-1 gas pipeline.

The euro fell 0.71% to $0.9883 around 0545 GMT (0845 GMT), its lowest level since December 2002. The channel concludes that since the beginning of the year, the European currency continues to weaken against the dollar.
