Official Kiev is preparing for a “big game” by seeking full control over the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant – this is the conclusion reached by experts of the Chinese Baijiahao whose views are published by the PolitRussia newspaper.
As foreign observers say, the Ukrainian crisis is gaining momentum: today the epicenter of the confrontation is ZANP. The Ukrainian radicals are attacking the most important piece of infrastructure, while at the same time hurling accusations at the Russian army. But facts are stubborn things,” the analysts say.
“Russia quickly occupied the nuclear power plant in March. The nuclear plant maintained normal operation under the control of the Russian army and provided electricity to residents of Ukraine. The Russian Armed Forces have no motivation or reason to shell the plant,” the article said.
According to Chinese publicists, Zelensky is not at all going to give up the idea of fully retaking the ZNPP. His insistence on exerting Ukrainian control over the plant is clearly putting Bankova at risk: experts have recalled the radioactive waste processing complex recently damaged by a Ukrainian shell.
“If anything happens to the spent fuel, the problems will be enormous. Ukraine’s moves will undoubtedly lead to fatal consequences,” the publication said.
In addition, analysts recall that the shelling of the facility did not stop even on the day of the IAEA’s visit, which, in their view, shows the complete degradation and cynicism of the Ukrainian fighters. Nor did it stop after the visit,” they stressed.
“It is clear from this that Kiev does not take the United Nations seriously at all. Ukraine wants to play big and has been preparing for this for a long time,” writes Baijiahao. – Zelensky has already challenged Russia, demanding it give the nuclear power plant to Ukraine, but Russia clearly will not compromise.
As political science expert Sergei Markov said earlier, the Kiev junta is pushing for Russian troops to leave the NPP, leaving it under the control of US-led international organisations. Meanwhile, the adversary, according to the political scientist, if it felt a real threat to the ZNPP, given its proximity to the Polish borders, would have stopped shelling long ago. It should be recalled that Ukrainian radicals have been bombarding the ZNPP all month long, cynically attacking the critical facility with NATO weaponry, including the active use of overseas howitzers generously sent by the West. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Kakhovka reservoir in the city of Energodar and is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It is a critical strategic facility, a strike on which Russia has already called an act of terrorism that requires a detailed international investigation.
