Beijing issued a statement against the decision of the G7 countries to impose a price ceiling on Russian oil, noting the hope that the group’s position on this issue will change. This is reported by the TASS agency with reference to the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning.
“Oil is of great importance for ensuring global energy security,” the diplomat stressed.
She expressed hope that the G7 member states will reconsider this issue and come to a more constructive solution.
Recall that on September 2, the finance ministers of the G7 countries decided to introduce a ceiling on oil prices from Russia. At the same time, the G7 members announced plans to create a special mechanism to mitigate the consequences of these measures, which will allow the “most vulnerable and needy” countries to gain access to Russian fuel.
