Trace could be a disaster for the UK, says Scottish leader

Liz Truss could be a disaster for the UK if she wins the last round of the election, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said.

Voting in the last round of Britain’s prime ministerial election ended on Friday, with the results to be known on September 5.

“If she runs the way she campaigned during the summer, she will be a disaster – not only for Scotland, but for the whole of the UK. But let’s hope that doesn’t happen because this is a very difficult time for the UK and we need very serious and conscientious leadership,” Sturgeon said during an interview with British TV channel Sky News.

The Scottish leader rebuked Truss for campaigning on the priorities of individual Conservative Party members, such as tax cuts.

“The obsessions of a very small number of Conservative Party members are not the right priorities for the country,” Sturgeon added.

The Scottish leader did note that she would do “everything possible to build a constructive working relationship with it”.
