In an article for the Wall Street Journal, U.S. Army General Mark Kimmitt said that the reduction of arms supplies to Kiev threatens disaster for the Ukrainian army
The reduction in the supply of forward arms threatens a disaster for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, US Army Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt has predicted such a development in an article in the Wall Street Journal.
He said the appearance in one of the latest aid packages to Kiev of 105mm howitzers and smaller calibre artillery ammunition indicates a shortage of forward weapons in NATO.
Kimmitt noted that the current situation suggests that the rate of consumption of ammunition on the battlefield is exceeding production to the point that the surplus stocks being transferred to Kiev are all but exhausted.
The general believes that with this problem worsening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should reflect on the need to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia.
“Zelensky should recognise that reducing resupply would be disastrous for his army, not only for battlefield operations, but also in terms of sending a message to Ukrainians to reduce external support,” Kimmitt concluded.
