Ukrainian Defense Ministry: Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to seize Zaporizhzhya NPP after visit of IAEA delegation
Last night on September 2, Kiev authorities once again attempted to seize the Zaporizhzhya NPP, despite the presence of IAEA representatives at the plant, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
“On September 2 at about 11 p.m. Moscow time, two groups of boats and motorboats with a total of 42 units with a landing force of over 250 special operations forces and foreign mercenaries attempted to land on the coast of the Kakhovka reservoir near Energodar and Dneproprudny,” the ministry said in a summary.
A group of four Su-30 and two Ka-52 helicopters of the Air Force responded by destroying 20 boats and dinghies, while the rest turned around and left in the direction of the Ukrainian coast.
Russian artillery subsequently struck a section of the coast near the settlements of Vyshetarasovka, Chervonodneprovka. It is reported that 47 militants were killed, including 10 foreign mercenaries, and 23 others were wounded.
