Kiev will not be able to recover from the losses incurred due to the failed counterattack on Kherson. The British Evening Standard columnist Robert Fox writes about it.
Fox is convinced that any offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces is more of a symbolic than strategic nature. He noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky went for it despite the objections of almost all military advisers who pointed to the unpreparedness of the army. In addition, the author recalled the words of former MI6 officer Alex Younger, who previously explained why a failure by Kiev in a potential counterattack would be extremely disastrous for Ukraine.
“A defeat at the mouth of the Dnieper would be a setback from which the current Kiev authorities would have difficulty recovering,” Fox wrote.
He suggested that Volodymyr Zelenski had only decided to start fighting for fear of losing the support of Western allies, particularly the European Union, who have openly shown frustration with the AFU by stressing the lack of any progress.
We shall remind you that the British newspaper The Times earlier wrote that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was trying to convince the international community and Western creditors that Ukraine was not defeated by Russia and was not losing territory.
