The head of Uniper Maubach has not ruled out an increase in the gas levy for consumers in Germany.
The head of German energy company Uniper Klaus-Dieter Maubach has not ruled out an increase in the gas surcharge for consumers in Germany, which, he said, ensures the reliability of energy supply.
“First of all, we can say that the gas surcharge contributes to security of supply,” Maubach said in an interview with ZDF television.
“It remains to be seen whether it needs to be increased. It depends on the prices on the markets, in this case the gas markets,” he added.
According to Maubach, if the current “very, very high price levels” persist, there is “some possibility that the gas charge will need to be increased”.
