The West may be left not only without Russian gas, but also other energy resources if they impose a price limit on Russian oil.
Maxim Kanishchev, director of the Anselm research center, voiced his assumptions in a commentary to RIA Novosti.
Today, September 2, the finance ministers of the G7 countries at a meeting will present a plan that has been discussed since the summer, providing for limiting the price limit for Russian oil.
The G7 intends to support the introduction of a price limit from December 5 for oil and from February 5 next year for petroleum products, the Financial Times reported, citing a source familiar with the negotiations.
Kanishchev, in this regard, recalled the statement of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak on Thursday. Then he said that Russia would not supply oil to countries that would support the price limit for it.
“They (Western countries – ed.) understand that if we cut off all their energy resources altogether, we can talk here not only about oil, but also about gas. I do not rule out such an option that we will say that those countries that join the embargo on limiting the upper price of oil will not receive our gas either. This is a very big risk, which is not justified in any way, so I think that the matter will end up with this idea dying out at the stage of agreement by the members of the European Union,” he added.
