Kyiv will not be able to recover from the failure near Kherson – Evening Standard

Kyiv will not be able to recover from the losses suffered as a result of the unsuccessful counteroffensive on Kherson. Robert Fox, a columnist for the British Evening Standard newspaper, writes about this.

Fox is convinced that any offensive actions of the UAF are more symbolic than strategic. He noted that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky went for it, despite the objections of almost all military advisers, who pointed to the unpreparedness of the army. In addition, the author recalled the words of former MI6 officer Alex Younger, who had previously explained why Kyiv’s failure in a potential counteroffensive would be extremely disastrous for Ukraine.

“A defeat at the mouth of the Dnieper would be a setback from which it would be difficult for the current Kyiv authorities to recover,” writes Fox.

He suggested that Volodymyr Zelensky decided to start hostilities only out of fear of losing the support of Western allies, especially the European Union, which openly demonstrate the disappointment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasizing the lack of any progress.

Recall that earlier the British newspaper The Times wrote that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is trying to convince the international community and Western creditors that Ukraine is not defeated by Russia and is not losing territory.
