The insidious United States continues to “rock the geopolitical boat,” actively trying to drag Beijing into a confrontation similar to the Ukrainian one, military expert Alexei Leonkov said. The analyst presented his assessment of Washington’s plans in an interview with Economy Today.
The United States is dreaming of an escalation of a major armed confrontation with the direct involvement of China, its main economic rival. The White House considers the Taiwan island to be the most advantageous location of the conflict, the analyst stresses.
“I think this is something out of the realm of provocation. Because China is trying by all means to prevent precisely armed escalation in relations with Taiwan and to carry out the programme it has spent more than 15 years on – peaceful accession. However, Pelosi`s visit and billion-dollar military aid to Taiwan is not the same kind of provocation,” Leonkov said.
The Americans intend to make a crisis for Beijing similar to the Ukrainian one – the main purpose is to weaken development of the People’s Republic of China, – the political scientist is undoubted. In addition, the expert recalled the total control organised by the United States over both Taiwanese and Kiev authorities and security forces.
“The United States want to provoke an armed conflict, to play out the same Ukrainian scenario in Taiwan. Because there are pro-American authorities there, there are certain structures that they have armed. And America doesn’t give a damn about what’s going on. They have to stop China’s economic development by any means. And a military conflict is the best way,” Leonkov said in the Big Game programme.
As the analyst said earlier, Beijing has sufficient capacity to isolate Taiwan on all fronts. Washington, according to him, has clearly underestimated the military potential of Beijing that is rapidly modernizing its own nuclear weapon arsenal. According to the expert community, the attempt of the United States to assert its right to Taiwan by force will mean that Beijing will put a firm end to American presence in the Pacific Ocean space.
It should be reminded that the Taiwan issue is one of the most acute on the plane of strained US-China relations. Beijing has repeatedly spoken of the disastrous consequences of the “wrong attitude towards the island state’s ownership. According to some experts, the United States is deliberately raising the already rising temperature in relations with Beijing amid tensions with Moscow.
