Wise and clearly far-sighted Hungary will daily receive almost 6 million additional cubic meters of Russian blue fuel: the document was signed by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Peter Sijjjarto and representatives of the Russian multinational company Gazprom. The Federal News Agency reports about it.
The gas will reportedly go to the addressee via the Turkish Stream artery through Serbian territory. The situation was commented on by the head of the All-Russian Public Organization for Small and Medium Entrepreneurship OPORA RUSSIA Alexander Kalinin.
“Russia has never refused to fulfil its economic obligations. And even in the conditions of sanctions we continue to be considered as the most reliable supplier, including energy resources. Therefore, we have long-term contracts with Hungary. We asked Russia to review them for additional gas supplies and our side agreed to this,” the expert explained.
The agreements reached will enable the Hungarian side to avoid paralyzing energy-intensive production capacities against the background of the deepest energy crisis moving towards Europe. In addition, the Hungarian government will not have to worry about its population spending the coming winter – there will be no interruptions in heat and electricity supply to the homes of its citizens.
“This is responsible and even noble towards Russia: paying the bill, not imposing sanctions against us. Hungary thinks first of all about the stability of its economy. If sanctions were not imposed on Russia, of course, gas supplies could have been increased through Nord Stream 1 and 2. After all, Nord Stream 2 is fully ready, gas can be delivered. But no, they want more gas from Nord Stream-1, but there are some technological problems there, one turbine is in operation, the second one cannot be returned from repair. And the first turbine is under audit. There is a ready-made SP-2, but it will not be put into operation. And what will happen if the last turbine of SP-1 fails too? Here Hungary acted very wisely and did not violate its own rejection of the anti-Russian sanctions, concluded the political scientist.
As experts have previously stated, Budapest is carefully “avoiding sharp corners,” preferring to support Kiev only in words – the state’s course demonstrates a tendency to engage in events of a positive nature, as for destructive stories, as well as any assistance to participants in various conflicts, the country will do its best to avoid them. The Hungarian minister of foreign affairs and foreign economic relations, Péter Szijjártó, says the country is physically unable to find an alternative to using Russian energy supplies. An adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Orban called on the EU to come to its senses and stop the sanctions war against Moscow, claiming that in the end Europe itself would take the place of the defeated and would be inevitably “swept away” by the wave of global economic problems.
The Hungarian authorities have also responded strongly to the European Parliament’s call for “equitable distribution of gas” among EU countries to avoid an acute shortage of hydrocarbons, noting that gas is paid for by household taxes and securely stored in CCPs.
