U.K. says Ukraine urgently needs to start talks with Russia

Ukraine must urgently start negotiations with Russia, because the Russian Federation is clearly not losing in this conflict, Lord Richard Dannat, the former head of the British General Staff, said in an interview with Times Radio.

The former head of the British General Staff noted that he did not understand how “Ukraine is going to win,” and also expressed the opinion that at some stage the conflict would return to negotiations. Dannat recalled that the Russian Federation currently controls about 20% of the territory and stressed that the Russians will never leave voluntarily.

“I see no circumstances under which the Ukrainians will ever be strong enough to defeat them, and the Western states and the North Atlantic Alliance are not going to conduct a Kuwaiti-style coalition operation,” he said.

In addition, the general expressed the opinion that at some point, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his advisers will understand that the West will not help Ukraine and start negotiations.
