The Chinese market remains the fastest growing in the world, so Gazprom wants to expand its presence there, Miller said at a meeting on the occasion of the Oil and Gas Workers’ Day. According to him, over the past 20 years, the increase in gas consumption in China has taken up to 40% of the total increase in the world. Therefore, he said, Russia’s eastern program should serve to expand export opportunities.

Miller spoke about the contract concluded on February 3, 2022 between Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), under which the Russian company must supply 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year for 25 years.
