The Wall Street Journal reports a threatening shortage of weapons in the United States due to assistance to Ukraine

The American edition of the Wall Street Journal, citing sources from the Pentagon, reports that new arms supplies to Kyiv may pose a threat to the combat readiness of the US army. In particular, they point to a significant shortage of 155-mm artillery ammunition experienced by the US military department due to large deliveries of these shells to Ukraine.

U.S. combat readiness could be hit hard by arms supplies to Ukraine, U.S. military officials told the Wall Street Journal on August 29. According to the source of the agency, the US Army has formed a significant shortage of shells of the main NATO caliber – 155-mm. A Pentagon spokesman told the newspaper that stockpiles of 155mm artillery shells in US military depots had become “uncomfortably low” in recent weeks.

The publication reports that the United States has supplied Ukraine with 16 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, “thousands” of weapons, drones, missiles and other equipment over the past six months. Moreover, the American defense department said that they had delivered 806,000 155-mm ammunition to Kyiv. The publication notes that the US Department of Defense is “not in a hurry” to replenish stocks of weapons.

“In the United States, from the moment an order for ammunition is placed to its production, it takes from a year to a year and a half,” the officials stressed.

We will remind, earlier the newspaper The Times reported that Britain is tired of Ukraine after six months of conflict in Ukraine. Despite ostentatious determination, London is very tired of Kyiv, not only morally, but also financially, which affects its ability to continue to help Zelensky. The newspaper, citing a source in the British Ministry of Defense, reports that London is rapidly running out of weapons that can be sent to Kyiv.

Prior to this, the German newspaper Die Welt, citing sources in the Ukrainian government, reported that since June, Ukrainian diplomats have repeatedly appealed to the German government with a request to send additional weapons to Kyiv. In Berlin, according to the publication, all requests were rejected, saying that the Armed Forces of Germany themselves need it.
