Russian Defense Ministry announces Ukrainian Armed Forces’ failed counteroffencive on Kherson and Nikolaev regions

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced an attempted offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in three directions in the Kherson and Nikolaev regions, which “failed miserably.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense on Monday evening, August 29, reported a failed attempt to attack the Ukrainian Armed Forces in southern Ukraine, which resulted in heavy losses on the Ukrainian side in manpower and equipment.

“Today, during the day, on the direct orders of Zelensky, Ukrainian troops attempted an offensive in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions in three directions. <…> During the fighting, 26 Ukrainian tanks, 23 infantry fighting vehicles, nine other armored fighting vehicles were destroyed, two Su-25 attack aircraft were shot down. <…> The losses of the enemy in manpower amounted to more than 560 military personnel”, the ministry said.

The fact of a full-fledged offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was denied by the deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region Kirill Stremousov, who called the attempts of Ukrainian attacks declared in the Russian Defense Ministry senseless and useless. In turn, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, also denied the information spread in Ukraine about a “successfully developing offensive”, calling it “another fake Ukrainian propaganda that was readily picked up in the West” and compared it with “virtual“ attacks ”of the Crimean bridge.”
