The export of electricity is growing every month. If you look at the statistics for 8 months from January to August, this year Russia sent 3.316 billion kWh to China, while for the same period last year this figure amounted to 1.978 billion kWh. That is, the growth was 67.6%.
According to the author of the publication, it is beneficial for Russia to export electricity with high added value. For the economy, this is much more profitable than selling oil or gas. However, the capacity of the current lines between Russia and China is only 7 billion kWh per year. That is, if deliveries remain at current levels, then almost all capacities will be selected by the end of the year.
Electricity supplies to China also have an important geo-economic character. In the conditions of the most acute geopolitical confrontation between Russia, the accelerated development of the economies of the countries of Southeast and East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and, to a lesser extent, Latin America, is beneficial, the publication says.
Now China is showing itself to be a real ally of Russia, helping to overcome the restrictions of Western states. It is clear that there are no sincere friends in geopolitics, and the PRC, among other things, acts in its own interests. he is well aware that it will not pull the situation one on one with the West.
