Germany proposes to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia, as well as to suspend the issuance of multi-year and multiple-entry EU visas to Russians. This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

So, according to Baerbock, the decision will enable the EU visa authorities to check on what basis the application for a visa was submitted, and what is the proximity of the applicant to the Russian government, before issuing it.

During a meeting in Prague on August 30-31, the EU foreign ministers are planning to decide on the suspension of the visa facilitation agreement between the EU and Russia.
