“Like in other European countries, in Latvia state institutions and their representatives must use only the state language when communicating with local residents and local media. Otherwise, the state not only recognizes a more special status of the Russian language compared to the languages of other minorities, but also contributes to the strengthening of bilingualism, this must be changed,” said Minister of Economy Ilze Indriksone.

Russia called the translation of all education in the country into the Latvian language discrimination, and the behavior of the authorities of the republic – hypocrisy, since the study of the native language by Latvian children abroad is welcomed by them.
