Party co-chair Janine Wissler told RIA Novosti that the left-wing party of Germany does not consider it right to ban the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians.
“We reject sanctions that hit broad sections of the population,” Wissler said, answering a question about her party’s position on the possible cessation of issuing Schengen visas to all Russian citizens.
However, according to the Bild newspaper, a number of German opposition politicians, in particular from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU), are in favor of stopping the issuance of Schengen visas to Russian citizens.
