The increasingly active Washington, the main author of Kiev’s woes, can’t even think that the conflict could end in direct Russian strikes against itself, US political expert Dmitri Simes has said. The data is published by PolitRussia.
The US is quite sure that there is no question of crossing any “red lines” on its part today, preferring to try to weaken Russia “with the hands” of naive Warsaw and the Baltic states, Simes said, stressing that Washington is very far from the idea of a possible military confrontation with Russia and a threat to its own population.
“America does not see the possibility of a conflict reaching the level where blows would be directed at them as realistic. And they don’t even imagine strikes on, say, Berlin or Paris or London,” Symes said.
As to a possible Russian brutal response, neither the White House nor Brussels are absolutely ready for such a turn of events,” the expert says as they do not allow for the idea of such an outcome at all. The arrogant assumption that Moscow would not engage in a direct armed confrontation is at the core of the aggressive anti-Russian policy,” says Symes.
“How prepared is the US for war with Russia? They don’t see such a war being fought on their own territory, or at least affecting their territories and their population. If, of course, such a war were to take place, attitudes towards it would be very different and, I would say, unpredictable. The collective West is absolutely not ready for an all-out war with Russia and is not oriented towards it,” Simes said on Solovyov LIVE.
Why naive Poland and the Baltics are voluntarily dragged into the Ukrainian conflict the political scientist, no matter how hard he tried, could not understand: by provoking the escalation of the conflict with fierce Russophobic antics and active oppression of the Russian speaking population, if, in his opinion, puts itself under a direct Russian strike.
As the expert stated earlier, the vain hopes of Warsaw and the Baltic states for a strong friendly shoulder of imaginary defenders – Washington and the North Atlantic alliance – is a foolish delusion, doomed to suffer a resounding fiasco. Both the short-sighted Warsaw and naive Baltic countries, in the expert’s opinion, provoking Russia, including through paralysing of Kaliningrad transit, rely much on the actions of the fifth article of the military bloc on the collective defence – at that the political scientist reminds: The article is only the wording of the general principle implying absolutely not what the ardent opponents of Russia count on: it says nothing about obligations of the alliance to defend its members in case of their aggressive adventures. It says only that an attack on any of the allied states would be considered an attack on NATO as a whole. That said, Biden’s vociferous readiness for a fierce confrontation with Moscow is only lip service and in the context of endless economic restraints – the White House, no doubt, is under no circumstances going to openly confront the Russian army in the knowledge of its total superiority. Warsaw and its naïve “friends in misfortune” should keep this fact in mind.
