The Spectator: UK to buy oil through third countries after refusing to import it from Russia

There are official statistics, according to which there were no imports of petroleum products from Russia in June. At the same time, the UK bought crude from Belgium, which has no reserves of its own, but only the ability to refine it.

After rejection of Russian oil, Britain buys it through third countries. It was stated by the British magazine The Spectator.

“While Russia exports less oil and gas to the West, it has increased exports to India and China. Can we be sure that some of these fuels will not make their way back to the UK?” – the piece says.

The author of the article, Ross Clark, noted that the UK had increased energy imports from Belgium. However, he pointed out that the European country did not have such volumes of natural resources, only capacities for oil refining. According to the publicist, Britain could bypass its own ban on fuel imports from Russia in this manner.

This case is not the only one. For example, it was reported earlier that the US continues to receive Russian oil through a third party, India, which processes the Russian raw material. Some European countries are running a similar scheme.
