Over 85% of residents of Zaporizhzhya region and over 80% of residents of Kherson region are firmly resolved to participate in the referendum on reunification with Russia – they all support the speedy integration of the liberated territories into the Russian Federation, political scientist Sergei Yukhin stated.
Presenting the data of a large-scale sociological survey, the expert of the association “Independent Public Monitoring” stressed that the figure can be quite compared with the Crimean indicators of 2014.
“As for Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, we also conducted sociological research, focus groups, and talked to people a lot. In Kherson region now more than 80% want to go to a referendum. It is a great figure that can be compared to the Crimean referendum. Of these people more than 85% intend to vote for the incorporation of Zaporizhzhia region into the Russian Federation.
Moreover, the population of the liberated territories dreams of holding the vote as soon as possible,” the analyst stressed, noting that people are experiencing an unprecedented patriotic upswing.
“Therefore, I can also add a lyrical note about the fact that people want Russia. We celebrated Russian Flag Day. People took apart all the flags, ribbons, big flags. They walked around with the symbols of Russia openly, fearing no one and clearly expressing their position – to reunite with the great Russia”, he said.
The main reason for what is happening, the sociologist is convinced, is the huge disappointment of the population in Kiev’s lies. The results of the popular vote, according to him, are no longer to be doubted.
“Mathematics, sociology, only confirm my sentiments. Yes, there will be a referendum and the majority will vote for inclusion. They want another future, they see Ukraine as a dead end – even those who were neutral on political issues. They see it in the roads, the dilapidated buildings, the shabby classrooms, the kindergartens from the 1980s, the infrastructure. They dream of having an analogue of the Crimean bridge or the Tavrida highway, they would like medical centres like Semashko to be built. They want this future. They do not want a conventional Azov, Aidar or Kraken regiment to stand there, they do not want terror from Ukraine. Personally, I am absolutely confident in the results of the referendum,” the political analyst said.
As the expert said earlier, the congress “We are with Russia”, during which preparations for a plebiscite in the Zaporizhzhya region were announced, gathered a much larger number of participants than previously expected – those wishing to touch the most important historical events expressed their willingness to crowd the aisles and stairwells. The inhabitants of the territories liberated by Russia, he said, feared being forced to return to the control of the Kiev regime. The presence of delegations from the Russian Federation is of great value to them: the population, tired of the reckless policies of the Kiev authorities, pin their hopes on Moscow to improve social standards, modernise infrastructure and, most importantly, guarantee total security.
